March 9 Memory Verse

Psalm 121:5-6

You may have heard your child talking about tickets. We have started using tickets in the classroom to encourage our Best Work. Students are able to earn tickets if they turn in perfect papers, with Math they can miss up to 3 and still earn a ticket. If they miss enough to warrant corrections, then they lose a ticket. If anyone would like to donate to our treasure box for tickets, please send the items to school with your child. Anything works great. Small items are great and even snack items such as fruit roll ups and such. They will have an opportunity at the end of each week to exchange tickets for an item from the treasure box.

Starting 4th quarter, if students hand in papers with a lot of corrections they will have to correct them during study hall, which is at recess time. I've constantly reminded them that God's word tells us to "do our best in all that we do" and yet they continue to rush through things and do poorly. We are going to work on neatness also. I have several students that have made great strides in this area and I am very proud of their great efforts. With 16 students, when I have to correct papers over and over it is using up a lot of my time. We are going to do some cursive practice this last quarter also. This will take the place of journals. Shhh, don't tell them. They don't know yet. We are going to do writing of stories, poems, letters, etc..this last quarter in place of Grammar and Journals. We also, will not do lexicons, but will use our lexicon notebooks to use bigger words for our writing.

Our Reading Day went well. The children had so much fun and looked so cute in their PJs. Thank you to Julie for the delicious cupcakes.

Everyone did such a wonderful job with their Science Projects. They were very impressive and the children learned so much from this opportunity. A big Thank You to Mrs. Chute for putting this together and allowing us to participate.

Please remember to study flash cards for multiplication. I have continued to remind even the ones who made it to the finishline in our daily drills. We are back to multiplication.

We will finish up Grammar within the next couple of weeks and will spend the remainder of the year working on writing: stories, poems, letters, etc...

Bible we are learning about Jesus Miracles. Math is more Multiplication. Grammar we are now working on pronouns. Social Studies we will continue working on learning our states and people in history that made an impact on America. Science we will be learning about rocks. In Health we are learning about cleanliness. Please remind your child to be doing their reading goals each month.

Hebrews 12

1 Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
