Happy New Year!! Can you beleive that just 10 years ago we were all worried about the new year...afraid we would all blow up or something. I am afraid that I was one of many in America that went out and bought bottled water and canned food. We waited for it to come and nothing happened. Looking back it seems funny-almost embarassing that a nation of our size would fall for a lie. But...kind of sounds like today, doesn't it? The media would like nothing more than to get us stressed about the economy, the environment, and our appearance. I recently shared Philippians 4:8 with one of our youth. It says, "Whatever is tre, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things." If you have been in the Christian walk very long at all you know this verse. But have you ever noticed the verses before it that talk about rejoicing and not being anxious and presenting your requests to God with petition and thansgiving? It says that the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds if we do that. Then...how about the verses after Phil 4:8 that talks about the peace of God being with you? Wow! That tells me that if I think on things that are in this list (get Webster's out for a defintition), He is going to give me peace in a world that is less than peaceful. Children of God, I challenge you in this new year to do this. Daren and I have never been much on New Year's resolutions. However, putting every thought, action, and choice up against these scriptures sounds like a great way to start this new decade. What about you? Are you willing to take this challenge?
